the build, in public.

musicia is an instrument studio in development — a place where a sentence becomes a playable, editable instrument, in your browser. this page is the honest ledger: what exists, what doesn't yet, and what comes next. no dates we can't keep; just the work, as it happens.

in development — the first private tests are taking shape

field note — the desk

most of this happens in code. the desk keeps us honest about how sound should feel.

01 / where it stands

an honest inventory.

what exists today

  • the plan and the principles on this site — written down, and lived by
  • a landscape study of more than fifteen tools in the field, and the gap they leave open
  • a feasibility pass on the browser audio stack — what runs, what it costs, what we refuse to license
  • interface studies — the panel on the home page is real work, not decoration
  • first synthesis experiments — oscillator, envelope and space studies, running in the browser

what doesn't exist yet

  • no app to sign into, and no accounts
  • no describe-to-patch experience you can try end to end
  • no public beta, and no release date
  • nothing to buy — and no price sheet before there's something to price
  • no shortcuts: the tuning work is deep, and we're taking it seriously

02 / the road

the shape of the work.

the studydonethe field, the browser stack, the licenses — mapped and decided.
the enginein progressthe synthesis core: oscillators, filters, envelopes, space — first studies sounding, now being shaped.
the studioin progressthe describe-to-patch flow, the editor, drafts and history.
tuning & scalesnextmicrotonal scales, cents-level editing, and the makam presets this instrument was born for.
the first testsplannedsmall private rounds with musicians — quiet, closed, honest.
the public betalaterwhen it's good enough to open. not before.

no dates on purpose — we'd rather move a label than miss a promise.

03 / the log

the build log.

mapping the field

read through more than fifteen products in this space — the prompt-to-sound tools, the classic synthesizers, the generation apps. the finding that matters: almost nobody pairs drafted patches with deep tuning. twelve-tone everywhere, and the musicians who live outside it still reach for spreadsheets. that's our home.

first synthesis experiments

the first studies run in the browser now: an oscillator pair with drift, an envelope that breathes, a small room behind it. rough, but alive — which is the only thing a study owes you. next: making it answer to words.

the feasibility pass

what can a browser honestly carry? we went through the audio stack, the licensing traps to avoid, and the cost of a single drafted patch. the answers: enough, clean, and pennies. decisions locked.

the first sentence

musicia began as one line in a notepad — describe it, play it. everything on this site is that line, taken seriously.

04 / next

what happens now.

the describe-to-patch loop is the next milestone on the bench — words in, a real patch out, everything editable. after that: tuning and scales, then the first small, private rounds with musicians. if you'd like to be in one, the door is a few lines of email away.
